The threshold state: the condition of being between what was and what has not yet become, where prior structures have dissolved and new ones have not yet formed. In HDI, liminality is not a problem to be resolved but a specific intelligence practice: the developed capacity to remain discerning, present, and generative inside uncertainty without collapsing it prematurely into the false security of the old frame or a new one. The most consequential decisions are made at thresholds, and the capacity to dwell there rather than escape it determines their quality.
