The sapient transfer of insight across non-identical domains: the capacity to recognize that what is true in one context illuminates what is happening in another, even when the surface features are entirely different. In HDI, analogical reasoning is one of the components of operational sapience and the bridge between discernment’s testing of reality and moral imagination’s generation of ethically coherent futures. It is how insight travels from where it was earned to where it is needed.
